Senior Frontend Software Engineer (m/f/d)
Trackunit is looking for an engaged Senior Frontend Software Engineer (Parental Leave Cover) to join our Engineering team.
As a Senior Frontend Software Engineer, you will join our team of 200+ engineers where you'll be working alongside a core group of qualified colleagues to innovate and build robust solutions, and frontend community where you can share knowledge with other skilled frontend software engineers. You will be an integral part in the continuous development of our practical products used by 10,000+ active users every day, and 1,25M+ IoT devices.
At Trackunit, we focus on continuous integration and deployment practices and you will be delving into different projects and always be on the lookout for new innovative ways to approach tasks using the latest tools and great technologies. You will get the chance to work with one of the most advanced and efficient IoT devices on the market through close collaboration with customers and key stakeholders.
With locations in the hearts of cities in Denmark and Berlin, we offer you a flexible setup with the possibility to work from any of our hubs or remotely from anywhere in Denmark or Germany.
This position is for a parental leave cover that will last 18 months.
What’s in it for you?
- You will join our experienced UI enablement team dedicated developing our core SDK, design system and supporting the frontend platform for the other teams in Trackunit
- A place in an agile growth SaaS business with possibilities to grow internally in the company.
- International environment with regular check-ins and social events across teams, departments, and borders.
- We take your personal and professional development goals seriously and we support them through training, coaching and mindfulness as well as with an open feedback culture to enable you to identify your strengths and opportunities. We do this by touching upon your impact on our triple focus: impacting yourself, impacting teams/relations, and impacting the organisation/strategy.
- Flexibility and hybrid working is not just a cliché to us or something we state in a job posting. We do offer you a flexible setup and believe that you best can structure how your routines look like. And once you have chosen how you work best, let us know what you need: We got you covered with the IT equipment you need for your work.
- Turning the Tide. At Trackunit, we are aiming to create and contribute to an inclusive workplace. And this effort starts with our hiring - we do not discriminate on the basis of gender identity, sexual orientation, personal expression, ethnicity, religious belief, or disability status. We only assess candidates on their qualifications and merit. Learn more about TIDE and other DE&I initiatives here.
Oh - and before you read any further, feel free to hear what our great colleague, Michael, has to say about working at Trackunit and in Engineering in general!
Who are you in an ideal scenario?
- You are an advocate for platform thinking and design system excellence — passionate about building tools, SDKs, and component libraries that empower product teams to move faster and deliver consistent, high-quality experiences.
- You bring deep software engineering expertise and a strong grasp of the full software development lifecycle — from architecture and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.
- You are fluent in the modern JavaScript ecosystem and stay current with evolving technologies. You have hands-on experience with frameworks and tools such as TypeScript, React, Node.js, Nx, and GraphQL, and you know how to apply them effectively in scalable frontend architectures.
- You prioritize reliability and maintainability by investing in automated testing, ensuring that our design system and SDKs can evolve safely under continuous delivery.
- You communicate clearly and effectively across disciplines, translating technical concepts for designers, engineers, and product stakeholders alike.
- You take pride in mentoring and elevating others — sharing knowledge, reviewing code thoughtfully, and fostering a culture of quality and collaboration.
- You champion clean, well-structured, and well-documented code, recognizing that readability and consistency are key to enabling teams at scale.
- You proactively explore new approaches and technologies to improve developer experience and take ownership in driving them from concept to adoption.
- You have a strong appreciation for UI and UX principles and understand how design and engineering intersect to create cohesive, accessible, and delightful user experiences.
Don't meet every single requirement? No worries - this is what we're looking for ideally, but if you're super excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align completely with every qualification, we still encourage you to apply.
Every day is different, but you can expect to:
- Drive the development and continuous improvement of our design system and SDK, enabling teams to deliver consistent, high-quality user experiences across products.
- Collaborate closely with designers to translate design principles into scalable, reusable UI components and patterns that enhance usability and developer productivity.
- Partner with Product Managers, Engineering Leads, and cross-functional teams to define and deliver solutions that improve developer experience and accelerate feature delivery.
- Take ownership of core platform features and strategic initiatives that shape how our frontend ecosystem evolves.
- Perform in-depth code reviews, ensuring high standards for maintainability, accessibility, and performance, while fostering a culture of technical excellence.
- Mentor and support other frontend engineers, helping them grow in design system architecture, SDK development, and frontend best practices.
- Lead technical demos and share key learnings to drive adoption and gather feedback from partner teams.
- Contribute actively to our frontend community by sharing knowledge, presenting at internal forums, and promoting alignment across teams.
- Stay ahead of industry trends in frontend engineering and developer tooling, identifying opportunities to refine our frameworks, processes, and technologies.
Overview of the recruitment process
Don't waste your time on writing a strong cover letter for the job. We want you to create an impact that matters, and that's not in the cover letter.
- Meet and greet - likely on a virtual video call. Here you will meet the hiring manager and other relevant colleagues, and we’re looking forward to it!
- Assignment specific interview. Based on the learnings from the process you will be given a case to prepare. You will present the case to the hiring manager and other relevant colleagues.
- Personality-based interview. You will be asked to fill out an online personality assessment (we use Hogan) prior to the interview. In the interview, you will first of all get feedback, but the aim is just as well to have a dialogue about what you thrive in, what we offer etc.
- Offer presentation and walk through. We're delighted and lucky to have you!
