Senior Engineering Manager - Site Reliability
Trackunit is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead engineering teams in London, Ontario.
The SRE team owns the platform that runs our large-scale IoT product. They work on platform scalability, observability, build tooling, and the security and reliability features that 200+ developers depend on every day.
You’ll be part of the engineering leadership team, collaborating closely with counterparts across Europe and Canada. The SRE function operates globally, and you’ll help drive cross-regional coordination on platform strategy, initiatives, and technical direction.
With location in the heart of London, ON we offer you a flexible hybrid setup with the preference of coming to the office on a regular basis. Occasional travel to international sites is to be expected. No relocation assistance is offered for this position.
Why Trackunit?
We take development seriously. Training, regular feedback. We think about your growth across three areas: your own development, your impact on the people around you, and what you contribute to the organization.
Hybrid that actually works. Tell us how you work best and we'll make it happen.
Inclusive by design. We don't discriminate on gender identity, sexual orientation, personal expression, ethnicity, religious belief, or disability status. Candidates are assessed on qualifications and merit. Learn more about TIDE here.
You care about the people, not just the output. Growth, frustration, blockers, potential. The best leaders here are genuinely curious about what makes their engineers tick. We believe that self-awareness and how you impact others is what makes a great people leader, and we'll invest in that alongside you.
What you'll be doing
People management
You'll lead through regular 1:1s, impact conversations, roadmap planning, and retrospectives.
You make sure people have what they need to do good work and grow.
You'll also support and help run the global SRE community together with the rest of the SRE leadership team, coordinating on direction and initiatives across regions.
Over time, you'll also be an advocate for The Trackunit Way — our approach to leading people and building products in a fast-growing SaaS company.
Setting technical direction
You help define how your teams work: infrastructure patterns, design doc requirements, development practices, quality standards, and cost accountability.
You participate in architecture reviews and help your engineers make good calls.
You'll define and maintain the strategic direction for both teams, keeping an eye on stability, scalability, and where the platform needs to go next.
Security and incident handling
As part of the job, Your teams are involved in platform security: patching cadences, tooling, and compliance basics.
You'll participate in on-call rotations with a focus on major incident management and security. When something goes wrong, you're expected to stay calm, triage clearly, and keep the team moving even when the full picture isn't clear yet. You need to be comfortable in this space and know when to escalate.
Who you are
You've managed engineering teams before and done it properly: career conversations, performance, culture, and understand what it takes to make high performance engineering teams.
You're comfortable with cloud infrastructure. AWS is our world and Kubernetes and Terraform are the language your SRE team speaks.
You don't need to be hands-on, but you need to follow the technical conversation without getting lost.
You've led or worked closely with application development teams and understand software delivery and quality at a practical level.
You think in scaleable processes and solutions. Clear ownership, good standards, documented decisions, what makes a team work at scale.
You communicate well. Written-first, structured when it matters.
You thrive in a fast-moving setup where priorities shift. You don't just adapt, you actively assess what changed, communicate the impact, and adjust the plan.
Not a perfect match on paper? That's fine. If you're excited about this and you've got the core experience, apply anyway.
How the process works
Virtual meet and greet. You'll meet the hiring manager and a colleague from engineering leadership.
Personality interview. You'll complete a Hogan assessment beforehand. No right answers, just a real conversation about how you work and whether Trackunit is the right fit.
Case interview. You'll get a case to prepare and present to people you'd actually be working with day to day.
Offer and walkthrough. We're lucky to have you.
